The Dallas Philosophers Forum is a lecture series and discussion group which meets in the Dallas, Texas metroplex. The Dallas Philosophers Forum is dedicated to bringing philosophy, ideas, and intellectual discussion to an interested and educated audience in the DFW area. The Dallas Philosopher's Forum is run by "Philosopher's Forum, Inc", a 501(c)3 tax exempt organization.

The philosophy lectures typically last between 30 and 50 minutes and the talks are followed by an open question-and-answer period which generates lively discussion. The philosophy talks are designed to be engaging and non-technical and thus they are enjoyable by the layperson or academician alike: Philosophy made user friendly.

Lecture topics may be anything philosophically related such as politics and political philosophy, culture, society and anthropology, science, bioethics, history, history of ideas, religion, meaning, or even standard philosophical fare such as ethics, metaphysics, epistemology, political philosophy, aesthetics, logic, philosophy of mind, psychology, philosophy of language, cosmology, or ontology.
The lectures may also cover philosophical theories, eras, and schools of thought such as realism, nominalism, rationalism, empiricism, skepticism, idealism, pragmatism, utilitarianism, phenomenology, existentialism, structuralism, and analytical philosophy.

The Dallas Philosopher's Forum meets the second and fourth Tuesdays of the month from September through May, unless otherwise noted on the schedule. There is no meeting the fourth Tuesday in December or the fourth Tuesday in May. Lectures start promptly at 7:30 PM. Some members gather for dinner and discussion before the lecture starting as early as 6:15 PM.

In addition to the regular philosophy lecture meetings, the Dallas Philosopher's Forum also sponsors a Philosophy Study Group (PSG). The PSG provides an opportunity for members to gain a understanding of philosophical issues by participating in a study program that would be both enjoyable and intellectually satisfying. See the Philosophy Study Group page for details.

Whether you are a professional, student, retiree, professor, or simply enjoy intellectual discussion then the Dallas Philosopher's Forum has something for you. Come see why we have become a D/FW institution.
